Villa Wästra

We hope you enjoyed the last days of summer with family and friends. As always, we enjoy being home on Cape Cod. Late August, my husband Steve and I flew over to Nantucket to meet our friends (and clients) Jeanne and Michael who were vacationing on their second favorite island. They treated us to a lovely beachside lunch, and it was great to catch up with them and talk about St. Barth, of course. Before heading back, we promised to meet for drinks at the Baz Bar in late December.

I travel back to St. Barth every month, and August was no exception. SBP’s Julie Nally flew down with me for a whirlwind scouting trip. We were looking for “the” perfect wedding venue for a very special bride. One potential venue was the breathtaking 5 bedroom Villa Estancia with its fascinating history. This past year, we have been more involved in planning island weddings and special events – including popping the question.

As always, there was lots of work to do: villa inspections and meetings. Julie and I stayed at the chic Villa Wästra. We have just added this glam Gustavia penthouse apartment to our portfolio. We loved it! The fact that we could walk to our harborside island office was a real bonus! We kept busy working on our all-new Live Your Dream® publication. Look for it this fall as soon as you get off the plane. We think you’ll love it.

And my big news? I have started a blog! I’ll be writing about new villas, restaurants (of course) and all the island happenings. Our trip included a dinner with island friends at PaCri. And we tried the new restaurant, Côté Port. I had great fun blogging about it. Take a look. I hope you’ll subscribe.

Back by popular demand, we are making the first weekend in November St Barth Properties Weekend!  People had so much fun last year at Le Select’s 60th Anniversary that they have asked me to plan a fun weekend this year (and every year after!). Ask and you shall receive. See details below.

Julie and I left the island just before Hurricane Earl arrived but followed his track – and thankfully short visit – closely. We are sure you are as glad as we are that the damage was minimal. Whew!

Happy Fall! I hope to see you on the island.

Villas of St. Barth

Now that fall is officially here, it’s time to think about where you’ll celebrate Thanksgiving. We have some great villa options for you to gather with your clan. Consider the luxurious 5 bedroom Villa Amancaya whose sleeping accommodations include a bunkhouse bungalow. Suitable for teens, it has 4 twin beds and its own en suite bath. There’s a fit-for-an-Iron Chef kitchen – for cooking in – and two alfresco dining options, one being poolside and the other in the garden’s gazebo.

Leave the gray November days behind and settle in to one of our newest and chicest villas La Boussole. The sensational view from this four bedroom sumptuous villa captures the striking blue and green hues of the lagoon at Grand Cul de Sac. The white décor and open-air feel lend to its island ambience. Its indoor living room and fully equipped kitchen open to the outdoor living and poolside dining areas. Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner alfresco and then enjoy a stunning sunset.

We still have Christmas space, and we’ll have an availability update and suggestions in next month’s Le Bulletin.

Hotels of St. Barth

Hotel Guanahani & Spa is undergoing expansive and exciting renovations this fall, in addition to refurbishment of its rooms. There will be two new ultra-luxurious and exclusive suites: the 2 bedroom villa-like Admiral Suite and the revamped Serenity Suite. Both will boast private pools and terraces facing the sea, and be butler-serviced, upping that category to eight. The hotel is closed from August 29 to December 15 for the renovations. We look forward to reporting more once we do our site inspection.

Are you already thinking about your Thanksgiving dinner?

The Hotel Carl Gustaf is offering a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on November 25 in its Victoria restaurant – and the view is included! It is open to the public, but check out some of the great Value Season rates and packages the hotel offers and you won’t have far to go for your post-dinner nap.

Island News

The big news on the island was Hurricane Earl. We are happy to report it did not live up to the hype. High winds and surf uprooted some of our beautiful native flora and damaged a few boats, but the island went quickly into repair mode – and all will be ready for the upcoming season. Shell and Corossol Beaches will need to be re-sanded, but the damage to the harbor was less than Omar’s visit in 2008.

The St. Barth Dental Association’s prestigious annual conference will be held Monday January 17 through Friday January 21. This well-established program offers a full week of challenging education, relaxation and fun. See our website for conference registration.

St. Barth Properties News

We have heard from many clients who planned their island vacation around Le Select’s 60th anniversary bash last November, and that phenomenal Jimmy Buffett concert. In addition to having a blast, they discovered that November is a great month on St. Barth. Value Season pricing is still in effect, and everything is “fresh and new” for the season. And the burgers at Le Select are the best! Interested in visiting the island this November? We have some special things planned. Keep checking Pegs' Blog for details.

We are pleased to welcome a new staff member to our island office: Magdalena Votava. Magdalena will be a sales assistant, and she comes to us – from France – with a strong background in sales and service and has also worked as a tour guide. We are delighted.

We absolutely loved Grand Galet. The view over Gustavia was spectacular, and we enjoyed watching the sunsets every evening. It had the privacy we wanted but was so close to so many things on the island – a perfect place to celebrate our twentieth wedding anniversary.
