Meet The Team
St. Barth Properties’ U.S.-based team is a unique group of professionals who share a passion for St. Barth and a commitment to delivering a special St. Barth-style experience to each and every one of the company's clients.
You need experience to create an experience, and our trio of St. Barth experts boasts a combined 45-plus years of creating Dream Vacations. A call to our office will put you in the capable hands of Anne-Cécile Bedford, Julie Nally or Kathy Schlitzer. Each has been with the company for over a decade and makes at least two trips per year to St. Barth to inspect the villas and hotels, test-dine the restaurants and scout out the latest boutiques.
They can advise you on not just if a villa or a hotel will suit you best, but which villa or hotel. Suggestions drawn from their storehouse of island expertise ensures a St. Barth Properties’ Dream Vacation. They are backed up by concierge extraordinaire Julia Hurd.
The U.S. team works seamlessly with the staff of the St. Barth island rental office. Under the management of Benoit Meesemaecker, Pascale Minarro-Baudouin, Nadine Rolland, Anne-laure Amy, Aurélie Janvier and on-site concierge Magdalena Borne coordinate the meet & greet services and flawlessly implement requests. Clients receive a warm reception and are escorted and oriented to their villa. The team is available to answer all questions about the villa and island and a staff member is always on call 24/7.

Founder & President
Peg Walsh, founder and president of St. Barth Properties, made her first visit to the island in 1986, and that ignited a passion that later led her to found the company in 1989 around the mantra of Live Your Dream®. Today the company, which represents many of the island’s finest private villas and hotels, continues to grow, as does its clientele.
Peg has been honored by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the top villa specialists worldwide and the best for St. Barth, and she has received this distinction each year since the award’s inception in 2006.
Currently, Peg spends six months a year on St. Barth with her husband, Steve. Late spring through fall, she is based out of her home on Cape Cod and makes frequent trips back to the island and to the company’s Franklin, MA, headquarters.
Her days on the island, which begin with a power walk, are spent doing villa and hotel site inspections and helping to make sure the island office runs smoothly. She happily admits to stimulating the island’s economy by shopping the boutiques and loves dining out in the island’s restaurants. She chronicles it all in her blog – complete with pictures – and this season she plans to start Tweeting about her days in paradise. Her two favorite beaches are Lorient and St. Jean, where you can find her – and Steve – on Sunday afternoons.
Tom’s first visit to St. Barth was on a family vacation in 1987 and and he knew right away what a special place it was. After completing his college studies in 1992, he joined St. Barth Properties and has not looked back. Tom has been instrumental in the company’s strategic growth, including the launch of a branded hotel collection – the Hotels of St. Barth – and the affiliation of its real estate division in St. Barth with the prestigious Sotheby’s International Realty network. He is now both co-owner and vice president. Listed in the Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate, Tom has been quoted in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal on the island’s real estate market.
Along with his wife Amy and two boys Tommy Jr. and Tyler, they enjoy annual family vacations to St. Barth as part of a treasured tradition. Tom and both boys received their PADI certification for SCUBA diving while in St. Barth and won’t pass up an opportunity to dive during their visits. The family has become fans of French food but can also tell you where to get the best pizza on the island. Tom and Amy both enjoy the St. Barth lunch scene and dinner at the romantic seaside restaurants and are always eager to share their “insider” secrets.
Operations Manager (since 2006)
Toni brings leadership and creates process initiatives to increase company efficiency, sales volume, customer service and retention. Her improvement in customer communication levels has helped to preserve the high-touch client contact and personal attention that have made the company so successful. Toni manages the day-to-day operations in the USA office while liaising with the St. Barth office; she oversees and monitors the company information management in addition to serving as executive assistant to St. Barth Properties’ owners Peg Walsh and Tom Smyth. On her business-focused trips to St. Barth, Toni can usually be coaxed into fitting in a little pool and beach time, and a sunset cocktail.
Bilingual St. Barth Villa and Hotel Specialist (since 1999)
Born in France’s region of Brittany, Anne-Cécile revels in that “French Connection” when she visits St. Barth. She loves shopping the boutiques’ sales for the latest European and island fashions – especially for her two children – and discovering local artists in the galleries. You can usually count on her to come home with a unique piece of jewelry. Come early evening, you may find her observing the island tradition of sunset cocktails at Shell Beach with a Ti-Punch. Anne runs in the annual 10K race, the Gustavialoppet (Race of Gustavia), and plans her November inspection trip around the event. It’s a highlight for her and now one of her personal traditions.
St. Barth Villa and Hotel Specialist (since 1997)
Julie travels to St. Barth for biannual inspection trips and knows the island’s villas, hotels, boutiques – and its beaches - intimately. She especially loves Gouverneur Beach for its natural seclusion. Her amazing customer service has garnered a devoted following and she has even flown down to make sure all went smoothly for a client-bride’s island wedding. Julie knows all the hot spots where the glitterati pop the corks of Jeroboams of rosé, but she personally prefers the local scene. After an end-of-day run in Grand Fond, she enjoys catching up with island friends over drinks and apps at fun and casual bars and restaurants. L’Entracte, L’Isoletta and Sayolita are a few of her favorites..
St. Barth Villa and Hotel Specialist (since 2000)
Kathy not only makes biannual inspection trips to St. Barth but also frequently vacations there. Touching down onto that notorious little runway gives her a feeling of coming home. She treasures her relationships with her St. Barth colleagues and friends as well as the nods and smiles of locals who now recognize her. Kathy tries to fit in a hike when she is on the island and loves to take to the seas. She says that one of her favorite experiences is “flying by catamaran to Colombier and having the spray soak me. I laugh for the sheer joy of it!”
Concierge, U.S. Office (since 2007)
On any given day Julia is happily securing reservations at the island’s most coveted restaurants, booking spa treatments and arranging for VIP service. She needs to know who’s who on the island – and she does. Her island visits provide her with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with all the vendors whom she works with, and because she is a real people person, she loves those interactions! She also loves visiting the island’s beaches, snorkeling on day excursions, trying out new restaurants and keeping abreast of the island’s entertainment. It’s all in a day’s work.
Marketing and Travel Industry Consultant (since 2005)
Connie manages many of SBP’s marketing initiatives and communications with our clients and travel agent partners. She writes the content for our website, monthly newsletter and Live Your Dream® – so we are happy that she is passionate about St. Barth! A foodie and a spa aficionado who is also crazy for beaches, she says, “What’s not to love?” Connie is the first one to volunteer to take a test trip to a spa and enjoys swimming at Flamands Beach. One of her favorite island experiences was a recent excursion to Pinel Island on a gorgeous yacht, with Champagne post-snorkeling and a “feet in the sand” lunch.
Office Assistant (since 2003)
Patty keeps the Franklin, MA, office running smoothly. She manages the planning on the villa calendar, processes client payments and is hands-on in cross-checking arrival details with the island office. She handles all the in-bound and out-bound mail and the plethora of tasks that keep a company humming. Oh, and she sings, too! Singing is one of her passions that include the Boston Red Sox and turtles. She has a tankful of turtles at her home in the nearby town of Bellingham. Her wish list includes snorkeling with the sea turtles in St. Barth.
