Nestled in a very private peninsula the Hotel Guanahani & Spa is St. Barth’s largest hotel and the island’s only full service resort. It’s a gorgeous (think hibiscus, bougainvillea and a coconut grove) 16 acre retreat. But lest you think it is too big – au contraire – there are just 68 rooms and suites housed in charming, brightly colored cottages that trail down to the two beaches. Yes, two – the ocean side Marigot and the reef-protected Grand Cul de Sac. And two pools and a Jacuzzi big enough for the whole family. The Guanahani with its resort’s-worth of water sports and activities, its complimentary Kindergarten and Juniors’ Club, makes for the perfect family vacation spot.
For Spa aficionados, and any and all seeking a Safflower Fruit Salt Body Scrub or just a good old-fashioned Swedish massage, there is a full-service Spa by Clarins. It's as chic as the hotel with eight treatment rooms housed in thatched roof bungalows and a beautiful, quiet pool. Book the new Wellness Suite and you will have private access and the "run of the spa" after hours including the use of that divine pool. Staying at the Wellness Suite also includes one treatment per day, per person. It's all just too delicious!
The range of accommodations at this 4-Star Luxe property includes 38 Double Rooms, 2 Superior category, Garden View/interconnecting; 30 suites, 14 with private swimming pool and a 3 bedroom Ocean Pool Suite. The suites here at the Guanahani offer the ultimate in privacy and the 6 in the Prestige category are serviced by a butler. Our favorite is the 2-bedroom Beach House, steps from the water with its own private garden. All suites are housed in Creole style cottages and surrounded by lush tropical foliage. The colonial décor - rare woods, pastel colors and whirling ceiling fans take you back to another time. And it’s all in keeping with consummate service level offered by the gracious staff.
Dining options include the poolside L’Indigo – they serve a fabulous buffet breakfast there each morning and it’s a fun spot for lunch or a more casual dinner. Don’t forget to make reservations for at least one night at Bartholomeo, a gourmet restaurant that you will long remember.
A Few of Our Favorite Things :
- Lunch at L’Indigo – both for the buzz and the great food
- Lounging at the spa’s pool – a retreat within a retreat
- The lovely amenities by Clarins and Frederic Fekkai
Who Would Just Love it Here
