St. Barth is open to tourism

Bonjour,

I’m happy to share that so many of our clients enjoyed an idyllic summer vacation on St. Barth. And now fall has arrived! Count me in with folks who feel September starts the “New Year.” These crisp days inspire us to begin planning for the months ahead, and we heartily recommend a November getaway to our beautiful little island. As shops, hotels and restaurants reopen for the season, everything is fresh and new. Come for the sea, the sun…for safety – and a sense of serenity. Our staff will be delighted to help you choose a villa to suit your lifestyle and budget, and our island team is there for you 24/7. A pair of special, and now annual, events are coming up: The St. Barth Gourmet Festival (November 11-15, 2020) and The Caribbean Journal Caribbean Rum Awards (November 10-15, 2020). So, two more reasons to come visit. Read more about these festivals below in Island News and find additional details on our website.

Grand Opening - Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf

For decades this glam Gustavia hotel, named in homage to the King of Sweden, was known to its legion of devotees simply as “The Gustaf.” It was recently purchased by the French-based Barrière Hotel group, who, upon completing a stunning renovation, have announced its grand opening on October 15, 2020Felicitations Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf! We are pleased and proud to include it in our Hotel Collection. This 5 star property offers an elegant selection of 23 rooms and suites with views galore of the iconic harbor. Guests can enjoy fine dining at Fouquet’s Brasserie and leisurely seaside lunches at Shellona. Island News

Calling all Foodies!

The seventh annual St.  Barth’s Gourmet Festival  will be held on November 11-15, 2020. We love their slogan: “Saint Barthélemy, The Art of Being an Island.” The festival celebrates French gastronomy while embracing St. Barth’s own culinary traditions, and our delish fish – fresh from the ocean. Participating island restaurants will each welcome one of seven esteemed chefs from France to collaborate in the creation of unique multi-course menus with optional wine pairings. The festival includes some fun events like the Café Waiters’ Race and an Amateurs Pastry Competition for kids, “Petites Toques St Barth” – with samples for sale. Complete details are on our website, and we’d be delighted to make your reservations.

But wait! There’s more! The Gourmet Festival coincides with the return of The Caribbean Journal Rum Awards Festival (November 10-15, 2020). The Caribbean is the home of rum – it’s where it was invented, and The Caribbean Journal wanted to give this elixir some love. They’ve partnered with Christopher Davis’ Rhum Room. (Davis’ Gustavia bar boasts the world’s most extensive selection of Caribbean rums, including rhum Agricole. Made from sugar cane, it’s special to the French-speaking islands.) There’ll be additional events and tastings galore. See details on our website.

Food, Glorious Food

Featured Restaurant - Santa Fe

Santa Fe – Mexican food? No, non, nope. Think escargot, Dover sole, moules frites, in a casual setting that includes a giant tank full of langouste waiting to be “chosen.” Hillside in Lurin, its lunches come with panoramic views and tropical breezes. Guests can enjoy a relaxing and romantic candlelit dinner on the patio. And the name? Just one that the original owner took a fancy to. Santa Fe is an island institution, celebrating its 50th anniversaire and under the stewardship of the current owner David and a savvy staff that includes the culinary virtuoso Alix, you’ll be assured of exceptional hospitality.

Reopened for the season on September 20, 2020. Serving lunch and dinner. Closed Wednesdays.

Concierge Corner

This dynamic duo can secure an intimate table à deux at the island’s top restaurants and book just about anything from a private chef, bachelorette party, or a babysitter, to a beach picnic. Take a hike? Well, they’ll tell you where, when, and with whom. What would round out your dream vacation? Sailing, snorkeling, shopping? Take a look at services offered. “Our Guests Say...”

From one of our guests who enjoyed an August villa vacation:

We had such a great time! Thank you so much for all you did to help make that time great. We LOVED the catered beach picnic, and also the day at Manapany. We will definitely do those again! We look forward to coming back….
